Influence of concomitant medication on side effects of checkpoint inhibitor therapy

As part of a translational research project, the hospital pharmacy and the Department of Medical II of the University Hospital Augsburg are investigating the influence of non-oncological concomitant medication on immune-related adverse events (irAE) and the response to therapy with checkpoint inhibitors. Data from cancer patients with solid tumours are analysed retrospectively. Prospectively, a structured drug history is also taken in order to be able to analyse potential influences on the immune profile and therapy response in a more targeted manner with a high level of data quality. The aim is to identify risk factors for irAE, improve treatment decisions and develop strategies for effective side effect management.
